It’s hard to forget about Aron Ralston, the confident mountaineer who amputated his own arm during a climbing accident in Blue John Canyon. While Ralston was canyoneering, a boulder fell and pinned his arm against the canyon wall. After five days of futilely trying to extricate himself, he broke his arm before cutting through the soft tissue with a cheap multi-use tool.
Pretty gross. And pretty amazing. And chances are pretty high you’ve heard Ralston’s story. But did you know that Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle was shooting a film about it in Moab, and as recently as this past spring? (We’re thinking, maybe 60% of readers may have heard…)
127 Hours stars James Franco as Ralston, and the Moab landscape stars as Utah’s finest. The film is set to hit theaters on November 5. Check out the new trailer for a glimpse of what you might expect.
